Five FDNY Firefighters Injured In Firehouse Blaze

November 29, 2008

A two alarm fire at the quarters of Engine 80 and ladder 23 left five firefighters injured. The blaze began while firefighters were at a fire nearby. A firefighter from another station spotted the firehouse blaze and it took two alarms to bring the blaze under control.

Five of the bravest were hospitalized. We wish them a speedy recovery.

RESCHEDULED: Captain's Exam is (probably still) September 18th. Good luck!

Men, if you want to know the essence of leadership, it is this: The ability to memorize hundreds of pages of useless bullshit, and then regurgitate it on a multiple choice test. That is all.

IAFF Disaster Relief Info

Brother and Sisters,
The IAFF can assist L-341 members in a couple ways. We have catastrophic Disaster Relief in the form of $500. To be eligible an IAFF member must have suffered catastrophic damage to their primary place of residence that would make the residence uninhabitable, such as roof damage, structural damage, or flooding. Being displaced from the residence due to power loss would not qualify. A disaster relief form must be filled out, signed, and turned in. The disaster relief form will need to be turned in to the local. We can figure out the best way to do that. We can issue either a check or make a direct deposit.
Also, if any member needs assistance with tree removal or debris we can help with that. We will have firefighter teams from across the state of Texas ready to assist.
We have a shelter set up in LaMarque and will operate out of it. The TSAFF is assisting us with that effort.

Sandy McGhee
IAFF District 11 Vice President
Chief Boriski and Command Staff are assisting the Local with this task.  All District Chief have been asked to poll there assigned member to assist in getting the information and message out, to determine how many of our member need assistance.  As soon as the form is made available it will be posted on the web site and emailed out to our members.

Also our members may reply to Health& the following information:
·         Name:
·         Preferred method of contact:
·         Phone #
·         Email:
·         Type of assistance needed or status:
As more information is made available we will attempt to get it out…

Stay low, stay cool and be safe
